PEaceful coexistence
- Idea brought forth by Krushchev
- Stated USSR wanted to peacefully compete with USA
- USSR encouraged in their peaceful competition with their success in the space race.
- 1959 Sino-Soviet Split
- More aggressive actions begin to be taken under the cover of this idea:
- Pressure to remove troops from Berlin, 1959
- Soviet influence in the Middle East
- Cuban Missile Crisis
Competing in peaceful ways, underneath they still hated each other and wanted to bomb eachother. Enough for the Japanese to think that the Soviets were getting soft with the Americans. It all ends in the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The Space Race: Sputnik, ICBMs
Nothing ever has been sent to space, the Sputnik, started all of the Earth orbiting satellite. Americans got very afraid of the Soviets. Soviets always beat the Americans, first to sent a dog in space ect. For Americans, it was their goal to walk on the moon first, Kennedy made a big speech on this when he came in power.
