Partition
- 500,000 people killed during mass movement of populations
Summary: In 1947 British pulled out of their involvement in India and the decision to divide the country was concluded. India was for the Sikhs and Hindus and East and West Pakistan was for the Muslims. Everyone was happy, the number of deaths did not happen because of violence but because of their inability to move long distances.
"Peace is not a relationship of nations. It is a condition of mind brought about by a serenity of soul. Peace is not merely the absence of war. It is also a state of mind. Lasting peace can come only to peaceful people." -Jawaharlal Nehru
