- 400-800 people killed, many were not students and many killed on streets outside of the square

They were in honour of the 70th anniversary of the last major democratic uprising. A hunger strike was created by students and Li Peng took a harsh stance on this by ordering the PLA to take action in whatever was necessary at the time. When the army arrived in early June, they ended up being reluctant and resisted the situation within the crowd of the strikes.
