What were the outcomes of the four Arab-Israeli wars (War of Independence, Suez Crisis, 6 Days War, Yom Kippur War) and how did this further establish the country of Israel?


A series of military conflicts were fought between the Arab and Israel countries throughout the late and mid 1900s. The first war began when Israel announced themselves as an independent state. In remonstration, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt and Syria attacked Israel. The War of Independence ended when Israel managed to gain a substantial amount of territory. Later, in 1956, Egypt nationalized the Suez Canal, resulting in the Suez Crisis. French, Israeli and British coalition later attacked Egypt and took over the canal, soon it was retracted due to international pressures. Then the Six-Day War occurred in 1967 where Israel attacked Egypt, Syria and Jordan; in the end Israel occupied a substantial amount of Arab territory and were forced to stop or else a greater war would begin. The last war took place in 1973 and it was called the Yom Kippur War; this war was Egypt and Syria against Israel (Israel was the defensive) the war ended unresolved. Throughout the four Arab-Israeli wars the Arabs demonstrated themselves to be powerful and strategic country through their overcomes of attack and success in invading enemy countries.
