What were the steps that Gandhi used in order to help India secure independence from Great Britain?

Gandhi's first step that led to the Independence of India from Great Britain was creating the Indian Congress Party. He led this party with non-violent resistance called pacifism. Gandhi strongly believed that Hindus and Muslims could share an independent India. One event that helped India secure independence was the Salt march in 1930. As a result of British putting taxes on salt, he refused to buy salt from he British any longer as it became more expensive. In protest, he walked 240 miles to get salt from the ocean. Although the salt could not support all of India, it was a motion to show that he is willing to go to many lengths to overcome the British and eventually achieving independence for India. The outcome of the Salt March resulted in the support for the independence across India.
